About Calvary Community Church

We are a community united by our faith and love for Jesus Christ. We are also a church, an assembly of believers called to fulfill a mission: to spread the glory of Jesus Christ through Gospel preaching and Gospel living. We gather each week to sing praises, hear the Word of God preached, pray together and enjoy fellowship. But being a church is far more than having church services. Christian worship involves all of life. So we seek to live our lives out of an overflow of joy in Christ that moves us to obey His command to love one another as He has loved us and to "walk in a manner worthy of the Lord."

Frank Griffith face

Frank Griffith has been the Pastor Teacher at Calvary since it was formed in December 1997. He has been married to Judy for over 45 years and they have three children and 12 grandchildren. Frank received his formal training at Talbot Theological Seminary, Golden Gate Theological Seminary, New College Berkeley and Westminster Theological Seminary. He holds a Masters Degree from Talbot in New Testament Exegesis. But his primary and most important training for ministry has come through life in the world and the local Church and his family where he has learned that "Christ is All." The most important courses of study have been the hard knocks of real life where the gospel has been tested and found to be true and powerful ("Cheer up, you're worse than you think and God's grace is far greater than you have ever imagined" Jack Miller). He has taught Theology, Bible Exposition, Biblical Languages and Christian Living at Grace School of Theology since 1975 and Theology Proper at The Cornerstone Seminary since 2004. Frank's passion is the preaching of the gospel of the glory of Christ.

Ryan & CaedmonRyan Rippee has been a Pastor at Calvary since 2004. He is married to Jennafer and they are raising 5 well-loved children (Gavin, Delaney, Liam, Caedman, and Ainsley) for the glory of Christ. Ryan received his formal training at Grace School of Theology and The Cornerstone Seminary where he earned the Master of Divinity degree with honors. He has served in two churches before coming to Calvary. He leads the worship team and is an accomplished musician and song writer. He loves to write, play soccer and play with his kids. But his passion is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Ryan teaches at Grace School of Theology in Pleasant Hill and The Cornerstone Seminary in Vallejo. He has trained pastors in Uganda and will be traveling to Mindanao in 2010. He is a part of the preaching team at Calvary, leads the worship team, and directs Impact (Calvary's Middle School ministry). Ryan also serves on the board of Northern California Church Planting Network.

What does Calvary Believe and Teach? PDF Print E-mail

The Bible is God's revelation of Himself and His personal word to His people. It is without error and contains all we need to know for life and godliness (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

God created man in His own image and placed Him as head over His creation. But mankind has been alienated from God since Adam's fall in the Garden of Eden.

Why should you attend a service at Calvary? PDF Print E-mail

What is so important about going to church? Most church services are held when many people are enjoying other things like golf, football, yard work, a trip to the beach or just washing the car. And after all few people really believe that going to church will solve all your problems or make you happy or even get you to heaven when you die. We certainly don't believe that attending church will do all that.

What We Believe PDF Print E-mail

Like many movements, the Reformation birthed certain slogans or rallying cries. These have come to be known as the "Solas" or the "Onlys" of the Reformation. Many of these Sola's are common parlance amongst Evangelicals today, but few really know what they mean. Following is a brief description of these slogans--may God grant His church today the desire to have Only these passions.
