Why I Preach the Bible - Dr. Josh Kornoff, Pastor
Calvary Community Church is a Bible Church. We believe the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God. We strive to faithfully preach the Bible and prioritize preaching because it is the divine mandate of God. The Bible teaches that people need to know the truth of God’s Word.
God’s Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105). God’s Word teaches that salvation is dependent on hearing the truth of God’s Word, “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17). God intends for His Church to be “the pillar and support of the truth” (1 Timothy 3:15) and for pastors to “preach the word” (2 Timothy 4:2). God has given the mandate to proclaim and teach His Word because the Word of God is the only thing that can truly help people. The best thing I can do for the people of God and their spiritual health is to ground them in the truth. Those who do not know God’s Word are spiritually sick and weak, God says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6).
Calvary Community Church has a rich heritage of biblical preaching that is near and dear to my heart. I too am committed to the faithful exposition and application of God’s Word. This Bible-based approach to ministry has been the hallmark of the church and will continue at Calvary Community Church.
