We can see how closely the different issues in Malachi were interwoven:

1:1-6 God's loving concern for the priests and people.

1:7-14 God's rejection of the priest's unloving worship.

2:1-9 God's rejection of the priests' unloving ministries

2:10-17 God's rejection of the priest's unloving family life

3:1-7 God's determination to cleanse the priesthood

3:8-12 God's determination to see that the priests are properly supported See how all the issues were interconnected. They all revolved around worship and the priesthood. Even though God was severely critical of the actions of the priesthood, he still wanted them cared for by the people. Having severely criticized the character of the priests, God commanded the people to care for the criticized priests by the tithe system. Again this illustrated God's consistent desire to bless those who worshipped Him.
